Preschool Story Hours
All Niskayuna elementary schools offer free Preschool Story Hours during the school year for students entering kindergarten next fall.

Birchwood
Program is held on Thursdays beginning in early January and ending in April, from 12:45-1:50 p.m. The program includes a 30-minute story time in the media center with Mrs. Disque and a 20-minute activity time in the gymnasium with physical education teacher Mr. West. Preschoolers are also have an opportunity to borrow library books. Teachers and staff members are frequently scheduled to speak with parents about school programs during the hour when children are engaged in the gym and library.

Craig
Program is held on
every Tuesday from 9-10 a.m. beginning February 23 through March 30. For more information or to register, e-mail Shelley Oliver at soliver2@nycap.rr.com.

Glencliff

Hillside
Program is held on Thursdays between 12:15-1:05 p.m. from January 7-April 1. Contact Joyce Choi at jchoi@nycap.rr.com for more information.

Rosendale
Program begins December 8 through March 30 on Tuesdays from 10:30-11 a.m. in the Rosendale Library Media Center with Mrs. Carboni. Every other week story time will be followed by a 20-minute session with Ms. Sabourin in the gym. For more information contact Lisa Stevens at lisistevens@hotmail.com

1,000-Book Kid Program
To give students a head start in learning -- while making it fun and easy -- all Niskayuna elementary schools offer the 1,000-Book Kid Program. (Please note: this program is geared toward 4-year-olds.)

Through the program, parents borrow a book bag filled with 10 fun, age-appropriate books to read to their preschoolers. When families are finished with the books, they return them to the school and can receive another bag of books.
